Welp! Onto the main attraction, folks. Linky-poo! Basically I drew him with a rain-theme intended because I was listening to River of Time, remixed by AmIEvil, found at ocremix.org. The rain inspired me, and thus, here is Link in the rain with the annoying little fairy. Our little hylian boy is drenched, though, so issal' good.
I tried to get the wet feeling onto the stone and the grass, as well as Link himself. I tried to pay special attention to his eyes because.. his eyes are a pretty blue and I have this goal to make eyes beautiful like a lot of artists can do here on DA, yet not make it the same style. You know what I mean? Anywho, I took awhile a couple days ago and did the base colors and majority of the shading, and then today I went and finished the shading on his boots, shield, and sword sheathe.
When I got to the background, I made a rather simple three-colored background - Grass, stone, and sky. I went in and did the grass first, using one of my PS7 brushes (one of the default ones) and did the grass; that was easy. I then went back and did a pattern fill on the stone and tried to make it look somewhat natural. @_o; THEN I went and did the sky, and didn't do much to it because.. blegh. o_o I had done at least six hours of blending before. I was tired of blending.
THEN I went in and added the rain so I knew where something would maybe look wet, and where it wouldn't.. whatever, that sort of thing. After that I went and did the rain-drop stuff, water puddles on the stone.. made the grass all shiny-ish, etc. Went back, added more rain, added Navi and messed around with her a bit, added blue highlights on Link from Navi's presence, and then I did some more tweaking on his blue eyes to make em' look a little more blue.
Last but not least I flattened the image, guassian blurred it on a duplicated layer and set it to about 30-50 opacity and made that layer a hue/saturated pale blue color.
Voila.
I printed it out and I'm gonna see if I can send this one into Nintendo. I'll probably send the other Link picture in as well.
Wow. **;; Sounds like a lot of work to get this to look like it does. Liiiink~ I love his pose. I think your wet effects is pretty nice too! :3 Beautiful! Nintendo will love it!
So pretty ... wow. Yeah ... just gorgeous. Man! That grass looks so real :3 What a wonderful piece Messa! His eyes are so captivating! I think that's my favourite part .. the eyes. Oo! And the glow off of Navi and how it hits Link's hair n__n This is amazing- you paid such close attention to every detail and it looks fabulous ..! The shading and highlighting on everything looks great and I'm sure if you send it to Nintendo that they'll love it- good luck! They might even use it for something major, ne!! X3
